The beautiful long fur coat of the Collie is so silkie, and the personality of such a loyal and loving companion is just breathtaking.  The pup used for inspiration in this painting was a search and rescue service dog.  When he was older he would go to schools with his mom and dad and shower the kids with love and attention.
